Day 6 Poetry Challenge

Uncertainty

From deep within

Layers of Euphemia

delicate like a woven silk

Aging parchment

Covers hide scars

Of pain,

weighty desires

of peace

She wanders

Tracing maps

Fingertips

framing out

new places

in her disturbed

mind

to go

Controversy and Art….

Controversy and Art….

What makes you tick when you work… I have been listening to a lot of music of late… I know when I stir feelings, I will have a surge of electricity I need to create something deep.  I ask again, what makes you tick before you write, make art, use a flame of a torch to melt metal?

What pushes you forward, what feelings will strip you to your core to create your art, love, hate, controversy…WHAT?  What pushed major artists, hopelessness, hurt, I try to feel deeply what the human condition is, even the ugly, to feel the feelings and allow them to pass through my being, push them though, then the magic happens.

Work in Progress…. just a peek into what is happening

Those that know me and have known me, know that I pretty much am an empath… I love crystals, rocks, painting, collage art, music and poetry.  I have been known to write a little myself.  I am a creature who loves, and loves deeply.

I have heartaches, losses and regret, but most of all I have hope for the human condition.

I hope most of all.

Coming soon to my Etsy Site  will be some small art projects.  I do hope you will join me there.

with Love

and most of all Hope

All Souls Day

All Souls Day

Frida-metal-flowers-red-case-7

I am working on some Art Boxes for the Winter Holidays.   I just happened to start working on them near Halloween, Day of the dead, Día de Muertos and All souls day… do you practice or celebrate one or all of them?  I am an Anglican / Episcopalian by belief but also believe many things as I age.

All Souls Day Anglicans view All Souls’ Day as an extension of the observance of All Saints’ Day and it serves to “remember those who have died”, in connection with the theological doctrines of the resurrection of the body and the Communion of Saints.[7][8 (Wiki)

My box is a collection of things I love, I love Frida and what she represented to other women and how she told her own truth.  She lived her own truth too, politically, as an artist, as a lover, as a person who lived in severe pain throughout her life.  I honor her life.

Today, as I make art I celebrate all the lives that came before me…

Most people celebrate Day of the Dead out of love and commitment to their loved ones (Wiki)

Is Christmas Near?

Is Christmas Near?

I thought it was just Fall — you know Autumn… Halloween is tomorrow!  Now I am hearing that we need to have all holiday items in our web-based  shops… eek!  Oh my goodness.  I have maybe two items made up!  I will need to get busy on this.  How are you doing, do you have Holiday items made up?

This is one —IMG_1727Christmas_Box_2

I need new and better photos!  Yikes and I need to build some new items for the Holiday Season!  I put together some new boxes and will be working on them starting today!

Being an Artist & Small Altars

Being an Artist & Small Altars

Saint_Theresa_Bright_White IMG_1654 IMG_1655

I love making just about anything.  My favorite item is to make small art.  I do paint large pictures but at this time I feel lead to work in smaller pieces, more focused in the image and what I am attempting to say with the art.

I keep a small altar in my own room… Virginia Woolf  (You cannot find peace by avoiding life.  Virginia Woolf) is an author whose life and death has always spoken to me… to keep a room of ones own… I love small things, romantic things and ritual..   This quote by Ms. Woolf also speaks mightly to me  “Lock up your libraries if you like; but there is no gate, no lock, no bolt that you can set upon the freedom of my mind.”
Virginia Woolf, A Room of One’s Own

I need my own space, I keep my room sacred and have places to be still and quiet!   I am an introvert so I need quiet.

The piece I am showcasing here is Saint Therese of Lisieux “The Little Flower.”  I hope you enjoy viewing the piece. I has many beautiful features, pearls, crosses, a crown, rhinestones, what I call bling tape (!) paint, collaged pieces of paper, and words, peace and dream.  It is something I wish for everyone, peace and dream, or really Dream Peace, for yourself and the entire Earth…

I do have it for sale on my Etsy site

I went to a meeting yesterday considering a place on a panel of other artists, it was quite educational and enjoyable.   I plan on volunteering to jury other artists applying to sell their wares at the 23rd Street ArtistsMarket, in Austin, TX.  The Market has been around since the 1970s. It has much historical and artistic value to the citizens, and local artists.  I am thrilled to be a part of this!  More soon
